When a person learns negative self talk at an early age from environmental factors at home or school, it can be difficult to recognize it and change it. Negative thinking can be very damaging to your life physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Studies have shown that when a person has a negative thought, adrenaline and cortisol are released in the body which results in a panic like episode.

These chemicals are available to us for situations that might arise where we have to "fight or flight". The problem is that when we talk to ourselves negatively our body releases these chemicals which increase our chances of cancer and stroke, and reduce our bodies immunity.

If you are anything like me, I learned to talk to myself negatively at an early age. I used to beat myself up for the smallest things, but if we are to stop this then we must learn how to cope with our stress and anxiety. We have to learn effective techniques to become more positive so that we can live a healthy life.
