Let me start by saying that there is nothing wrong with buying products on TV. Just like any other marketplace, some products are good and some are bad. However, there are some problems with ab machines sold as seen on TV that it's worth knowing about before buying one. I'm not saying that all of them have problems or even that these problems may apply to you, but it's worth finding out for sure before spending your hard earned money on any machine:
1. Full price disclosure - Often, ab machines are sold through enticing trial offers which make them appear to be super cheap. This isn't always the case as usually there are extra costs involved which may make the price rather steep for many of us. Extra billing and shipping costs are things which you have to be sure you know about before you buy any machine as it can be costly to return one in the trial period.
2. Too good to be true promises - Again, this isn't always the case, but a lot of people end up disappointed with exercise equipment they bought through infomercials. Ads on TV know how to paint a rosier picture than what the reality is. As a rule, don't expect that by working for minutes a day on this or that machine that you'll get six pack abs or burn away all of the excess belly fat. It's unlikely to happen.
3. Lacking information - A lot of time, there's information worth knowing about this or that machine which the infomercial just doesn't cover. Warranty period, weight limitation, customer support details, length of delivery period, and so on. A good way to find out all of these things is to to look online. Don't be lazy. It's your money we're talking about here.
All in all, you need to be aware that to really get flat abs, you will need to do more than just use an ab exercise machine. You will also need to work hard on your other body parts and to make sure you eat a healthy and sensible diet.
