What Do You Need For Your Baby?

What Do You Need For Your Baby?

Whilst you're preparing for the arrival of your new baby, there's plenty to think about. You'll be anxious about how your baby is developing, and how much you're changing, and what you need for your baby.

Here are some of the things that you and your baby will need.

1. Although some prams and travel systems come with changing bags, not all do, and you might not like the one that comes with yours. Why not see if you can find something you like better, or that isn't quite so feminine, if you're a dad who'll be taking his baby out.

2. Baby toys might seem to be a little advanced for a new arrival, but you might be surprised as to what can stop your baby from crying, or keep them entertained long enough for you to change their nappy. You might get some toys as newborn baby gifts too.

3. Organic baby skincare products are a really good idea, and will help to prevent young and delicate skin from the harsh and abrasive chemicals that are used in other cleansing products. If you use organic products on your face, surely your baby's face deserves them too.

4. A Moses basket is the ideal place for your baby to be, so that you can get on with some of the other parenting duties, and for your baby to sleep in. With a stand to keep your baby off the floor, and to make it much easier for you to get your baby in and out.

5. You'll want a cot, and again, it might seem a bit soon, but your baby might not like sleeping in their Moses basket, and so a cot might be the only way to get them to sleep.

6. You'll need plenty of bodysuits and babygrows, for your baby, as they seem to manage to go through several a day, and you won't to spend all your time sorting out washing.

7. Blankets are really important too, and as your baby can't regulate its own temperature for a while, it's your job to ensure that your baby isn't too hot or too cold. An extra blanket can keep them warm whilst sleeping during the day, or at night. Why not have a go at swaddling your baby too? This makes them safe and secure, and can remind them of being in the womb, and so is reassuring, and explains why it helps get them to sleep.

8. You'll want plenty of baby clothes other than babygrows and vests, for when you're going out. Why not take the opportunity to put your baby in some nice clothes when meeting friends and relatives, and for when you're doing the shopping? If you like to look nice when you go out, you'll want your baby to as well.

9. Slings and carriers can make carrying your baby much easier. You might want to use your baby carrier just when you're out, or you might want to use it at home too, so that you can have your baby with you, and both hands free too.

10. Breast pumps can be a lifesaver if you're struggling to breast feed your baby. You might also want to express milk yourself, so that you partner can feed the baby, or so that you can go out and not have to breastfeed.
