Relax Your Eyes to Improve Vision Naturally
The eyes are perhaps the most needed of all of our senses. After all, they are absolutely necessary for seeing and enjoying everything that surrounds us. With our eyes, we can read and get things done. Our eyes help us store things to memory, and help to create the vivid dreams that we experience while we sleep. Because of their utter complexity, the eyes are extremely sensitive and easy to damage. The eyes are very unique organs, as they are the only organs outside the human body that have a thin layer of skin protecting them.
Sunlight is very powerful, and it is wonderful for our health if it is experienced in moderation. It is known to be beneficial for skin health and is full of vitamin D. Everyone should spend at least an hour in the sun, as there are secret healing powers in its light - some of which have been proven to be as beneficial as everything else that sustains us such as, breathing, eating and drinking. However, you should not look directly into the sun as it can burn out the retinal tissue in your eyes. Always wear some kind of protection - hats or sunglasses - to protect your eyes.
As technology has grown, we now use televisions an computers on a daily basis. They too can be very harmful for the eyes after prolonged periods of time. They cause us to stare and do not allow us to move our eyes adequately enough. As the distance between ourselves and the computer monitor or TV set remains the same, the eyes are forced to focus on a singular object for too long a period of time. While it is not entirely possible to not stare at our televisions and computers, it is essential for vision health to look away now and then to focus on objects further away - this gives our eyes the chance to relax, adjust, and focus properly. Use commercial time on TVs to let your eyes scan around the room, and take short breaks from the computer screen to alleviate eye strain.
While reading does not hurt the eyes, make sure you are reading what you enjoy. If you are reading a novel or something you are interested in, your eyes will be more relaxed and in focus. However, if you are reading new information or something you may not be interested in, your eyes will strain. The key to reducing eye strain is to bring yourself to a state of relaxation. While low light conditions and small printing in books or magazines may cause the eyes to initially strain a bit, the eyes will adjust accordingly if properly relaxed. If the eyes are not relaxed, this can cause problems when reading a book to try to get to sleep or getting sick while reading in a moving car.
Yes, the eyes are extremely sensitive, but if you learn to put them at ease and protect them adequately, you will have 20/20 vision for a very long time in the future.
