Preventing Stress - 6 Ways to Avoid Stress Owning You

Stress affects as all and there are plenty of ways we can prevent it or reduce its impact on us. These include diet and exercise as well as putting our needs first by changing jobs or downsizing our home to cut down on financial stress. This article has some advice on how to prevent stress from taking over your life and making you miserable.

The best course of action to preventing stress and/or overcoming it is to make sure you know what your triggers are. Knowing triggers will help you avoid being overwhelmed and help you prevent further problems. Below are some methods to help you prevent stress:

Diet & Healthy Eating - Making sure your diet is healthy we help your body better able to deal with stress and prevent it becoming an major issue in your life. Most people who are overworked and overtired tend to skimp on the diet and eat the easiest to obtain and most condense foods possible - these being fatty junk foods. The best thing to help lift your mood and allow yourself a better standard of living is to change your diet. The easiest way to do this is to incorporate lots of raw fruits and vegetables. You can help make this as easy as possible by first eating fruit before every meal and trying to add in a salad everyday. This is a great starting point. Other things you can do include cutting out obvious and small things that will have a huge impact on your well being. These include cutting or sodas and only consuming water as a beverage. Caffeine can have a similar effect on your body to stress and anxiety so it is a must that it is cut from your diet.

Exercise - exercise is known as a great stress reliever and is important for any healthy lifestyle. It is important to try and do something everyday whether this is a 30 minute walk or a 30 minute run. The more you do the better. It is great for making you feel good and helping your body cope better with stress.

Sleep - Many people experience a disturbed sleep pattern as a result of stress and this often leads to move stress and reduces your ability to cope. We all need restful sleep. Many people find that when they lay down in be they start to think about all the things that are worrying them which prevents them from sleeping. Both counselling and sleeping pills can help you. Alternatively try writing down your problems and offloading before bed as many people find this a great way to stop them thinking about those problems bed, resolving to check the list in the morning.

Deep breathing - deep breathing can help relax your muscles and calm you down. If you feel yourself getting stress, try breathing deeply a few times. Inhale for 3 seconds, and exhale a little longer getting rid of all the air in your lungs. Repeat as many times as necessary to calm yourself down.

Stop Smoking - Many people use smoking as a way to relax but smoking puts more stress on your body and can make stress worse not better.

Relaxation - Many people do not give themselves time to relax. They think sitting in front of the TV is relaxing but unfortunately TV bores you, it doesn't relax you, hence why many people reach for the nibbles to suppress the boredom they feel. Taking time to be creative - learning a new instrument, painting or writing can be a great way to relax and satisfy the creative side of you. Many people do not give enough time to this side of them. Alternatively catching up with friends, going out or getting massage are also great ways to relax.
