Notebook Battery Life


Notebook battery life is very crucial for a mobile computer user. The worst nightmare is when you need to gain access to your notebook but you need to turn it off due to low battery. There are things to know to prolong battery life.

The first would be the conditioning of the notebook battery. Know your habits in charging the battery. Always keeping the notebook on the charger or charging while it is half full are the worst things you do to your notebook battery. It will reduce the battery life giving you less of its operating hours. Charging your battery after it is completely drain is the ideal way.

The second is know your usage habits. Watching movies or use of any multimedia deplete your battery faster. There are operations that are CPU intensive like using computer-aided design (CAD) programs which are mostly like playing 3D games. Playing games will quickly reduce your battery life than browsing the Internet.

Notebooks have different settings that can help preserve your battery life. Windows has different functions for notebooks compared to desktop computers. For example, setting your power usage depending on what you are doing. Notebooks can be like desktop if there is available power supply to get a full performance out of your system. On the other way around it can be set to use power efficiently if you are on the move. These setting changes are the amount of power for CPU uses, the brightness of the screen and so on.

In the very end it is really up-to the user. There are some notebooks have an option of a second battery with an advantage of doubling your operational hours of your notebook but it is sometimes expensive. There is also a more advance batteries that are available but it is will cost you much.
