How to Set Up Your TV Room to Get the Most Viewing Pleasure

You can really go all out with designing a TV room. So much is available. Big screen TVs, TV Projectors with a large screen, special chairs that give a "theater seating" experience, incredible TV sound systems that make you feel you're right in the middle of the action. It all comes down to space, money, and making the two work together for setting up the best TV room that you can. So let's start with...

Space, the major player in deciding what's the best setup for watching TV:

If you have a big screen TV in a small room you're really cramping your space. Especially if you have to sit close to the TV. Sitting too close will put a strain on the eyes. Not good. And being too close also causes you to miss out on the full effect of a big screen TV.

You can get just as much enjoyment watching from a smaller TV in a small room. So figure the amount of space you have and check various sizes of TVs for their viewing specifications. If you can afford it, try to get the biggest TV that will be the most compatible with your TV room. You'll appreciate this move, especially in the future, if you decide you want to move the TV to a little bigger room.

Surround sound, give your small room, or any size room, that movie theater feeling:

There are all kinds of sound systems available. One thing to keep in mind, just because a particular sound system may be expensive it does not always mean that it will have great quality.

So what do you do to find a good sound system?

Check at stores or better yet, online. Prices will vary. Make a short list of your top 10 or top 8. Now search for sites that offer specific reviews for the sound system your interested in. Once you've found a couple of nice sound systems you're really keen on, than see if you can get them on sale.

It also helps to know if the store offers some kind of support for putting up the system. If you're new to putting in a new sound system, you should make sure the instructions are easy-to-follow. Try to take a look at the "installation manual" and see how easy it will be for you to install the system. Really good installation manuals will come with lots of pictures (my favorite kind of manual).

Some stores may even offer professional service where one of their technicians will come out and set up your system and show you how to use it. This will only happen where the service is available and you have purchased a "complete system". This could save a lot of headaches.

And than you may know some one who is a wizard with technology. Never hurts to have one of these kind of friends. The person could come over and help set up your system and show you what you need to know. The cost could range from free, to a beer, or to dinner.

One final note of caution here. Going for cheap sound systems is a little bit like rolling dice--you take your chances. You want to make sure that whatever sound system you get, it will work smoothly and nicely with your TV giving you a really good show every time you watch your favorite program.

Setting up a TV room should be fun and exciting. Once the room is set up, you should start experiencing lot of great times watching movies, sports, listening to music or playing video games. It's showtime!
