Everything mechanical, or electronic, breaks down and nearly every computer made is expandable. This is also true of your Toshiba notebook but to be honest, as far as notebook technology has progressed, it is still not a great idea for you to go poking around in your notebook unless you really know what you are doing. But there are some upgrades you can do yourself and there are some repairs that can easily done for you by a technician using either generic replacement parts or Toshiba notebookparts. Then there are the things that look like they cannot be fixed but can be fixed using only Toshiba notebook parts. Then there is the fatal stuff.
So lets look at some typical situations and see if we have a dead notebook or if you can use Toshiba notebook parts to repair it.
Upgrades
Generally speaking any notebook computer can be upgraded. Look at your owners manual or go online to determine what parts can be replaced. Normally you can upgrade your hard drive and memory but unless you know how to do this you should take it to a professional.
When it comes to memory you are probably better off using genuine Toshiba memory but hard drives that are made by other manufacturers should be ok but you need to check your manual for compatibility. The screen for a laptop is not upgradable. If you need a larger or higher resolution screen then you currently have then your only choice is buying a new laptop.
Dead notebook
Even though notebooks are much more durable than they used to be, dropping a laptop that is not protected by some sort of case may cause serious damage to your notebook. Dropping the notebook in water may be fatal.
Stuff That Can Be Fixed
Even thought notebook screens cannot be upgraded they can be repaired. For a screen repair it would be best to take your notebook to a professional. A bad battery and also the main power supply can be replaced as well. The DVD drive and CD-Rom can be replaced or upgraded using Toshiba notebook parts.
