Specifications: Since its launch, the Samsung PN42B450 42-inch plasma HDTV has been topping the best-seller charts. After testing it for a couple of days, it is easy to see why (a low price tag helps too). This model is 790p HD model where its display has a 1024 x 768 resolution. For its sound system, it uses the SRS TruSurround HD technology and has 20 Watt in audio power. In terms of connectivity, the PN42B450 comes with 3 HDMI ports, two component video port, a USB port and a couple more standard connectors. It is also quite energy efficient as it is Energy Star Compliant.
Design: The Samsung PN42B450 has an almost all black glossy frame and stand. On the bottom frame (below the screen) there is a streak of dark red that creates a nice accent to its overall look. It measures 41.7 x12.4 x 28.4 inches in dimensions and weighs at 61.3 pounds. Most of the ports are located on the back of the unit. There are also several connectors (such as a HDMI port and composite AV input) located on the side of the HDTV.
Features & Performance: Although the Samsung PN42B450 is a 720p plasma, from our tests, the video playbacks were much better than many 1080p LCD HDTVs in the market. The black levels were very deep and the colors were accurate. We tested 'Transformers' (Blu-ray) and the visuals were just stunning. Fast action sequences were smooth and almost flawless thanks to its 0.001ms response time. I use to think that Panasonic and Pioneer plasma HDTVs are the best in the market, but now, it seems that the Samsung PN42B450 (along with the PN50B450 and other model in its series) is going to give those giants a good run for their money. To top it off, this model currently costs around $680 a piece (with free shipping), making it an unbelievable deal. There are very few HDTVs (42") in the market that are selling below the $900 mark.

Samsung is presently producing the best led tv line of any manufacturer. If you're about to purchase a new HDTV, look at Samsung before you spend your money!
Just when you thought HDTV could not get any better, Samsung has taken it further, much further. By taking a very old technology, the LED (light-emitting diode), and the many advances that have been made in the field, Samsung has been releasing the best LED TV on the market.
Whether it be in the LED LCD HDTV line or the new Samsung LED DLP HDTV line, these new televisions are producing images that are simply stunning. With contrasts ratios of 500,000:1 being offered in current LCD devices, as well as blur-free imaging, these LCD HDTVs aren't what you're used to seeing. With much brighter, more vibrant colors as well words really can't do the images justice, they truly must be seen to be believed.
Not only has Samsung worked their magic in the Samsung LED LCD TV line, but they have also advanced the LED DLP TV sets in leaps and bounds.
DLP is Texas Instrument's amazing chip that houses millions of microscopic mirrors that can switch states at incredible speeds, offering the best images in projection television (and commercial applications as well) that have ever been seen. That, of course, was until Samsung decided to set the bar even higher.
The older versions of the DLP system used a high power arc lamp as the light source for the DLP system. There was also a spinning color wheel used in those original devices. What Samsung has done with their new line of LED DLP TV technology is to take the best of the old and improve on it greatly.
Instead of using the arc lamp, which is costly to operate (and replace every few years) they use their own LED light source. They've also eliminated the spinning (whining) color wheel, which is one less item to break or wear out. This isn't about changing for the sake of changing though, these changes have resulted in HDTVs that have up to a 40% brighter image, with such brilliant color capability that many high definition sources can't even fully take advantage of the increased color gamut, as of yet anyway.
Of course without the high powered lamp to power on, the Samsung LED DLP TV also has near ly instantaneous startup. Add to that a much lower operating cost by not powering the arc lamp, and the savings that will be realized when you don't have to replace the lamps, and these devices are attractive in so many ways...even including the surprisingly low cost.
Although it's still possible to get a comparable image on the highest priced plasma sets, why pay several times more to do it ? Especially when the plasma tubes have a relatively short life and are on their way to the old technology heap in a very fast way.
Also, Vizio, which has just taken over the number two spot (over Sony) as the largest plasma HDTV supplier in the United States (4th Qtr. 2008), has just announced that they will be discontinuing plasma production in the next few weeks of this writing. I believe that speaks volumes for the future of HDTV.

2010 is the year of the 3D televisions and the first 3D television to reach the UK is from Samsung in the form of the Samsung ue40c7000 3D led television.
So what is a 3D television and is it worth buying a 3D television and how well will 3D adapt to the home viewing environment?
If you have watched any on the new range of 3D films at the cinema such as Avatar, Disney's Christmas Carol or Alice in Wonderland you will know how much this new version of 3D has changed since the last 3D films of the late eighties with movies like Jaws3D in which you had the plastic red and green plastic lens glasses.
Avatar has become the highest grossing movie ever and alot of this has to do with the amazing way this film was shot in 3D.
Sky television here in the UK and ESPN in the US have already started releasing sports games in 3D at selected pubs and venues and the feedback has been amazing, so good in fact that sky will be bringing out it's own 3D channel in April of 2010, but to watch the sky 3D channel you will need a 3D television.
The Samsung UE40C7000 is the first 3d television to be released and one of the great features of this Samsung TV is that you don't have to adopt 3D straight away. The ue40c7000 works just as well as a standard HD LED TV and you can add on the extra 3D features such as the glasses at a later date.
A great feature of this television is that it will also upscale regular 2d pictures into 3D, of course this doesn't look
anywhere near as good as a true 3D source but it is a nice extra and will make more use of the 3d features until more content is available in the future.
The ue40c7000 is a LED edge-backlit LCD set and it is incredibly thin, at only 27mm deep, Samsung have really done ana amazing job of fitting so much technology into this television and keeping it so thin and light.
One of the great added features that Samsung have also included with this 3dtv is the ability to have SCART adaptors which was one of the main downsides to the 2009 7 series and series 8 models, but this TV is so thin that Samsung have developed special SCART adaptors that are connected via HDMI add-ons.
I have to admit that I was blown away by the 3D movies like Avatar and I have also got to watch the England vs Wales match in 3D on the new Sky 3D service and I have to say that 3D is here to stay and will change the way we view blockbuster movies and sporting events. Don't forget that this technology is brand new and will only get even better over time. With regards to the Samsung UE40C7000 3D enabled television set, it is worth buying even if you don't care about 3D yet, just by the standard set without the 3D add-on and you will be getting one of the best 40" LED screens I have seen, if you thought that the 2009 models such as the ue40b7020 and the ue46b8000 were good then you have not seen anything yet!

This cable is used to connect your television set and your disc player and may not come with either one of these pieces of equipment. Be sure to find one that maintains high quality transmission even at high speeds. Luckily, if it does turn out that you need to purchase this cable, they are relatively inexpensive especially when you compare them to all the rest of the components you'll need to put together to be ready for 3DTV.
